Visiting our Office
About Your Office Visit:
Thank you for scheduling an appointment to consult with Mr. Cobb regarding your circumstances. The following information is provided to answer some preliminary questions common to all persons who are consulting with attorneys. It will also assist you and our office in focusing on the legal issues involved, as well as the matters which are of greatest concern to you. This will also inform you about what to expect during your visit to our office.
Office Staff:
Our staff consists of Mr. Cobb, his secretary, Jill, two paralegals, Deborah and Tray, and the office administrator Jaclynn. During your initial visit to the office, you will likely meet only Mr. Cobb and his secretary. If you retain Mr. Cobb to handle your case, you will become involved with the paralegals as we begin to process your matter.
Initial Forms:
Before meeting with Mr. Cobb, you will be asked to fill out several forms to provide us with basic information about your case that will be used during the consultation. This is why we have asked you to arrive 30 minutes early. The information we need depends on the nature of your matter. Typically included is information regarding you, your spouse and other potential opposing parties, children, a summary of your legal problem, follow-up information, and an area for you to list any questions you would like Mr. Cobb to answer.
You will also be asked to fill out a Conflict of Interest Card, to be used by our office to prevent a conflict of interest from arising on cases that Mr. Cobb has been or is involved in. For example, if you consult with Mr. Cobb about a divorce case, he would be unable to meet with or represent your spouse on the same case, due to a conflict of interest since he had already been privy to the facts of your side of the case. Whether you retain Mr. Cobb or not, information we obtain during your initial telephone call and from your consultation is kept on file to be used only to help prevent this type of situation from occurring.

Consultation:

It will be helpful if you will take some time before the consultation to write down all of the questions and concerns that you have. Please feel free to ask Mr. Cobb anything you wish as he maintains the philosophy that the only foolish question is the one that isn't asked. Rest assured that he will be honest with you. He wants to be sure that you get all that you need to make informed decisions regarding your problems. This can only be accomplished if you are completely honest with him about the situation that brings you to the office. The more information your provide during the consultation, the better able Mr. Cobb is to assess your case. Your consultation with Mr. Cobb creates a legally recognized attorney-client relationship in which everything discussed is strictly privileged and confidential. The only exceptions to this protection is information concerning your intent to commit a future criminal or fraudulent act and information the disclosure of which is necessary to protect someone from death or serious bodily injury.
Our office always sets aside at least one and one half hours for a consultation. We will extend that time if necessary and possible, depending on his schedule on the particular day of your visit. If you feel that it is likely that you will need more than one hour, please make this clear to the secretary so the appropriate amount of time you need is available when your appointment is scheduled.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING WITH YOU!
